High Power Presentation Training Communications Coaching Partnership Seminars
What my mentors taught me that I would like to share with you.
Jan Williams Jan was a partner with Grant Thornton and responsible for the Boston consulting department. He taught me the tools of the consulting business such as Matrix development and Gantt charts. Most important he taught business writing. Admittedly I was a stubborn student and he had to practically hammer it into me. But it paid off and all of his teachings supported my spending more than 25 years as a management consultant and program manager. I was able to play an influential role in the completion of more than 35 business process and software projects for national retail chains and suppliers such as CVS, Eckerd, GAP, JoAnn Fabric, Raley's, REI, Sterling Jewelers, Wolf Camera, and Vera Bradley,
Melanie Rose Melanie was my boss at Retek. One day she called me and figuratively 'threw the book at me'. The book was The Trusted Advisor by Charles Green, David Maister and Robert Galford. What stuck out for me were a couple of sentences in chapter 6, page 53. "More often than not, we professionals are high achievers who have consistently overcome our fears through constant application of skill and hard work in the pursuit of technical mastery. And, up to a point, these things are rewarded. In the early levels of professional life, we are often asked to focus on little else." This thought started me on a search for what we need as a professionals to go beyond being strictly technical experts and to better understand interpersonal communications that can assist us to be better team leaders and develop stronger client relations.
Early 1990s were a time in the economy when one regional retailer after another was going under and it was difficult to find work. The Dale Carnegie course gave me the courage to take on new challenges. I decided then to become a Dale Carnegie Certified Instructor and spent years learning from Duwayne who owns the Dale Carnegie franchise is southwest Florida. I can still hear Duwayne in my head saying, "Don't over analyze, just get out there, do it and you will learn." and "Just speak and respond from your heart and whatever you say will be OK." Scary stuff for a person who relied on their thinking skills to be successful. Since that first course I have developed and delivered 100's of proposals, lead teams of business and technical consultants including providing team building workshops and successfully promoted client/vendor relations. In addition I presented national workshops on behalf of merchandise vendors such as Vera Bradley
Paul and Layne Cutright www.paulandLayne.com Over the years I noticed some sticking points in developing business relationships. Sticking points can be different for everyone. They generally come from a set of beliefs that we developed as very small children and that no longer serve us. In getting assistance to figuring out how to become aware of and deal with those tough spots, Paul and Layne are the cream of the crop as people and as relationship coaches. Over the years they have taught me how to manage expectations; to recognize how our beliefs create reactions in others both good and bad; how to be present with others, listen empathically then respond in a supportive way rather than reacting; how conflict and anger is based on a fear that some need is not being met and how to meet those needs for ourselves and others. Much of my current communication coaching is based on the principles and skills I learned from Paul and Layne.
Alex Ramsey www.lodestaruniversal.com When I decided it was time to do something about really assisting others to grow their business communications, practically out of the blue, Alex Ramsey offered to train me to be a High Power Presentations coach. It turned out that the course was developed by a group of psychologists and actors and Alex was one of those very talented actors. What is so amazing about the course is that it takes many different presentation techniques that I have learned over the years and turns them into teachable principles which anyone can quickly and easily learn and use to their advantage. The purpose is to develop the skills of professionals in delivering their message to bosses, teams and clients. It is especially effective training for technical consultants, engineers, accountants, lawyers and financial advisors needing to present very detailed left brain information to very big picture or right brain audiences such as retail clients, promoters, boards of directors, venture capitalists and the media. High Power Presentations is the core training course for Kinnexion.

Bringing communications to the forefront of my career allowed me to lead large teams of consultants and technical experts in implementing systems for national retailers and resulted in millions of dollars in sales of additional products and services. Over the years I developed a process for making this happen and this is what I intend to share with you now..
Kinnexion was launched in part as my way of honoring the contributions of some amazing mentors with the intention of continuing to pass this information on to others and potentially influence their success. Below are some snap shots of several of my communication mentors and what I learned from each one.
